(FLASHBACK) What Happened to Me?

Iggy was in a dark room... he could hear people around him, but when he opened his eyes he saw nothing. He didn't like the soudn of that. He was barely nine years old... and he was living in hell. It was unbearable... yet somehow he still survived. He heard a door open and wondered why he still saw darkness... A familiar voice -- a voice he needed to hear -- filled his ears: Jeb.

Jeb entered the room in which Iggy was in. The lights were on and Iggy wasn't in a crate -- Jeb had made sure of that. After what happened... Iggy deserved to be spoiled a little bit. He set some food on the table. "Iggy, how ar eyou feeling?" he asked kindly as he walked over to the nine-year-old and guided him to the chair to sit down so he could eat.

Iggy let himself be guided to the chair. he sat down and then answered. "I'm scared... I-I... it's dark. Really dark. How can you see?"

"The lights are on, kiddo," Jeb said sadly. he had hoped what he had heard was wrong... but it clearly wasn't. He placed a fork in Iggy's hand. "Here's a fork... the plate it right in front of you..."

"But... but... but... it's dark, Jeb," Iggy replied shakily. What had they done to him this time?

"No it's not, kiddo," Jeb replied. "You can't see anything?"

Iggy shook his head. "It's all dark..."

Jeb sighed sadly. "I'm sorry, kiddo. I shouldn't have let this happen to you," he said. He had been the one, in fact, that had suggested trying the nightvision out... he just didn't think it should be tested on the kids yet. THe other Whitecoats obviously felt differently.

"But what happened to me? Why can't I see?" Iggy asked, starting to panic now.

"Iggy, they tested something on you that wasn't ready to be tested yet," Jeb explained slowly.

"And what'd it do to me?" Iggy asked shakily. He hadn't touched his food once yet... in fact, he could smell it, he just couldn't find it.

"It seems to have made you blind," Jeb answered quietly.

"I'm... I'm... I'm what?!" Iggy asked loudly. He was slightly horrified by the fact that he may have heard what he thought he heard.

"Iggy, I'm sorry... but you are blind," Jeb said heavily.

Iggy coulnd't believe it. Tears sprung to his sightless eyes as he thought about seeing only blackness for the rest of his life. "This sucks," he muttered, folding his arms in front of him and resting his head there, though he wasn't crying. Yet.
